Public Interest at AFM

November 13, 2008

We just finished up are adventure at AFM.  The atmosphere was amazing and we got the chance to get the film in the hands of several distribution companies.  We got to meet with a lot of great filmmakers and share our stories and really dig our feet into the distribution and selling aspect of filmmaking.  Now begins the waiting period as we wait for the companies we've met with to actually watch the film and start the back and forth with them and find out who might have interest in picking up the film for distribution.

Fall Screenings

September 22, 2008

Public Interest will be making its Texas premiere when it screens as part of the Thin Line Film Festival (Sept. 24th-28th).  Our screening is on Thursday, September 25th, at 10:30pm.  The festival takes place in Denton, TX, which is outside of Dallas.  If anyone has friends or relatives or people they sometimes talk to at holidays, drop them a line and tell them to check out the film.  For more information, check out the festival website at www.thinlinefilmfest.com.

Then, the film will be screening as part of the Berks Movie Madness Film Festival in Reading, PA.  The festival runs from October 2nd-5th.  Our screening is Saturday, October 4th at 10:30pm.  We will be screening at the R/C Theaters.  For information and tickets, visit the festival's website at www.berksmoviemadness.com.

The next day, Sunday, October 5th, the film will be screening in Philadelphia as part of the Project Twenty1 Film Festival.  The screenings is at 12pm and is at the International House, located at 37th & Chestnut.  This is a FANTASTIC venue that the Philadelphia Film Festival uses (where I was lucky enough to catch a screening of my friend Jeremy Zerechack's film, Land of Confusion).  For anyone who wants to see the film in its best visual and audio setting...this might just be the place.  We are working on putting something together for after the screening, depending on how many people will be in attendance.  Information about the festival and for tickets can be found at www.projecttwenty1.com.

Finally, Public Interest will be screening at the University of Pennsylvania community on Thursday , October 9th, at 8pm.  The venue is going to be located at the Harrison College House at 3910 Irving Street.  While the screening is primarily for the UPenn students and staff it is open to the public and if...

Festival Recaps (5 Nominations, 1 WIN)

August 12, 2008

Last weekend (8/7-8/10) PUBLIC INTEREST screened in TWO different festivals. The film was nominated for awards at both and we had a total of three screenings in the four day period. The first festival was the Pocono Mountains Film Festival, followed by the Downbeach Film Festival in Margate, NJ.

Here is a recap of the weekend's activities.

PUBLIC INTEREST NOMINATIONS:

Pocono Mountains Film Festival: Best Feature Film, Best Director (Brad Robinson)

Downbeach Film Festival: Best Independent Film, Best Director (Brad Robinson), Best Actress (Kristina Klebe).

Our director, Brad Robinson, made the trek up to the Pocono Mountains Wednesday night for the festival. The film screened Thursday morning and Friday afternoon. While both screenings attracted unfortunately small audiences, the response to the film was amazing. Those who got a chance to see the film were huge fans and quickly became loud supporters of the film at the festival. On Thursday morning, Brad did an interview for a local news station that appeared on the 11 o'clock news that night. The interview was more about the festival then the film itself, but it was still a nice piece nonetheless.

While Brad was in the Poconos, producers Nicole DeFalco and Michelle Orren made their way to the Margate/Atlantic City area to represent the film there. The Downbeach Fest had some really great parties and special guests. We were able to meet some really great filmmakers and get the film into a few people's hands. On Saturday night, they gave special awards out to William Forsythe and Kevin Smith, who were both in attendance and conducted Q&As with the crowd. On Sunday, Brad made it out to the shore to accompany Nicole and Michelle for the mid-day screening. The Downbeach venue was one of the nicest venues we've screened in. Picture...

POCONO MOUNTAINS FILM FESTIVAL:

THURSDAY, AUGUST 7TH, 10AM

FRIDAY, AUGUST 8TH, 12:20PM

SATURDAY, AUGUST 9TH, 2PM

DOWNBEACH FILM FESTIVAL:

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10TH, 11:45AM

You can get information about tickets sales at both festivals' websites.

www.poconomountainsfilmfestival.com

www.downbeachfilmfestival.org

Director, Brad Robinson will be in attendance for the Sunday show in Margate, NJ and AT LEAST the Saturday showing at the Poconos. Depending on his schedule, he may be able to make the Friday and Thursday screenings as well.

This will conclude the summer screenings for the film as we await news from several film festivals for the fall. Still planning the big Philly show for the fall, just trying to work out dates and venues. We'll let everyone know as soon as it is figured out.
